Basell and Lyondell Chemical Company have joined forces to create a new global leader in polymers, chemicals and refining – LyondellBasell Industries. Basell Australia Pty Ltd, a company of LyondellBasell Industries, is based in Victoria with a commitment to the Australian and New Zealand markets.

In 2000, when Basell was formed – through the merger of Montell, Elenac and Targor - there was a new name for the global leader in polyolefins technology, production and marketing. In 2004, Basell was purchased by Access Industries, a privately held, U.S.-based industrial group with long-term holdings worldwide. On Dec. 20, 2007, Lyondell Chemical Company and Basell Polyolefins merged to become LyondellBasell Industries - one of the world’s largest polymers, chemicals and fuels companies.
