PIPA Objectives and Background PIPA was formed in 2002 as a result of a decision taken by major manufacturers and suppliers of both PVC and Polyolefin pipeline systems to improve efficiency of addressing industry issues. Mission Statement To strengthen and develop the PIPA organisation so as to increase technical and commercial acceptance of PVC and polyolefin pipeline systems.
The Pipes and Fittings Manufacturers Group of PACIA split in 1999 forming PIPA and AusPoly. The PVC Pipelines Industry Association of Australia (PIPA) was formed to position PVC as the preferred pipelines material for the new and existing markets, where it can responsibly compete, thereby creating a growing acceptance and usage of this industry’s products. Australasian Polyolefin Pipeline Systems (AusPoly) had the primary objective of promoting the acceptance of polyolefin pipeline system products as the preferred option in the market place. In 2002 the two groups reunited under PIPA's changed name of Plastics Industry Pipe Association of Australia Limited, which aims to represent the interests of the plastic pipe industry. To position PIPA as the leading industry body providing leadership and vision for growth in pipeline systems. To promote the acceptance and utilisation of PVC and polyolefin pipeline systems in appropriate product market applications. To promote relevance and attributes of plastics pipe systems to the principles of Ecologically Sustainable Development (ESD). To provide a forum to produce essential standards and guidelines. To assist in the development and use of training courses that encourage best practice and promote optimum installation procedures. Objectives To promote and assist in the development of standards, specifications and practices that help ensure the proper use of plastics pipes. To research, collect, interpret and disseminate to members and users, technical information on plastics pipes and fittings and their applications. To enhance the knowledge and awareness of contemporary plastics pipeline technologies amongst specifiers, users and installers. To help ensure that the environmental impact of plastics pipeline systems throughout their life cycle meet or exceed legislative and community standards. To represent the industry in relations with and in respect of issues involving other organisations, governments, specifying authorities and the public. To carry out all other objectives approved by the members in general meeting which are incidental or conducive to promoting the plastics pipeline industry. To do and perform any and all lawful acts which corporations whose liability is limited by guarantee may do and perform. All Members of the Plastics Industry Pipe Association of Australia Limited (PIPA) are bound by the provisions and actively encouraged to conform to this Code of Ethics. As a Member of PIPA, and in keeping with the highest standards of service and business responsibility, I pledge to:
