PIPA News PIPA aims to enhance the knowledge and awareness of contemporary plastics pipeline technologies amongst specifiers, users and installers.
As a part of PIPA's commitment, frequently asked questions about plastics pipe materials or pipeline systems are answered on the FAQs page, which can be accessed from the Technical, Environment and Application pages. As a further example of PIPA's commitment, a page has been devoted to the recycling of plastics pipe. After the successful trial, the plastics pipes recycling from demolition and construction waste has been established in three states of Australia. Chemson Goes Lead Free Australian PVC industry continues to set sustainability benchmarks. In their drive to achieve even better sustainability outcomes for PVC products, Chemson Pacific will no longer manufacture lead based stabilisers in Australia. Their shift away from the use of heavy metal stabilisers is in tune with the position of PIPA members and is in keeping with our industry's successful drive to exclude heavy metal stabilisers from Australian PVC pipe products. PIPA Technical Forums 2008 During 2008 PIPA is holding a number of technical forums in four major state capital cities. The objective is to give members an opportunity to interact with PIPA staff on technical issues of concern to the plastics pipeline systems industry. The forums consist of brief presentations on topical subjects followed by discussions. The forums are scheduled for: Sydney on 5 March, 2008 The first PIPA Technical Forum for 2008 was held in Sydney in March and details can be found in PIPA Technical Forum 2008.
PUBLICATIONS August 2008 PIPA has issued new Industry Guidelines which can be accessed from the Technical Guidelines page. POP202, PVC and PE Pressure Pipe Installation On Curved Alignments, which provides general guidance regarding the suitable methods to successfully curve PE and PVC pipe. POP201, Resistance of Plastics Pipes and Fittings to Water and Wastewater Chemicals, which addresses the resistance of non-metallic pipe and components to chemicals commonly used in water and wastewater systems.
