PIPA Technical Forum 2008

Sydney

The first PIPA Technical Forum for 2008 was held in Sydney on Wednesday 5 March. It was well attended and highlighted that there are many issues concerning members, but importantly, all of them are currently the subject of some action.

Topics covered included:

  • Standards Representation and how PIPA manages this process
    • The role of the technical committees and working groups
    • Update of current issues including, PL021 (PVC), PL006 (Polyolefins) and AG008 the gas installation standard
    • Recent additions and soon to be added PIPA documents

  • Squeeze-off
    • Discussion of current practices and issues
    • Proposals for inclusion in standards
  • PE Repair options
    • Stopping flowing water for EF
    • Repair fittings and their availability
  • Training
  • Sustainability of plastics pipe systems
    • Potential impacts of green building
    • Recycling initiatives and the importance of recycling.
