PVC

Drain, waste and vent pipe as well as stormwater pipe and electrical conduit are manufacturered using either solid wall, structured wall or multilayer construction techniques. Multilayer techniques often incorporate a foamed or recycled layer sandwiched in the core of the PVC pipe.

Modern manufacturing technology enables production of lighter weight PVC pipes than the traditional solid wall PVC pipes, reducing the weight of the pipe by up to 40%. This produces a more material efficient PVC pipe without compromising functionality, offering the advantage of significantly less embodied energy compared to solid wall pipe equivalents.

Sizes in Australia are typically available up to 600mm (DN600).

PP

Polypropylene has high impact resistance, good stiffness and excellent chemical resistance, making it the ideal material for the following applications:

  • Stormwater drainage pipelines
  • Estuarine and ocean outfalls
  • Road culverts
  • Gravity sewer mains
  • Low head irrigation
  • Pipeline rehabilitation (as liner pipe)
  • Ventilation ducts
  • Leachate collection
  • Stormwater detention systems

PP is typically available in Australia in sizes from 150mm (DN150) up to 900mm (DN900).

PE

Polyethylene pressure pipe is often used for non-pressure applications. There is also a range of structured wall PE pipes specifically designed for non-pressure applications. Primarily, non-pressure PE is used in sewer, storm drainage and agricultural applications.
